The public company "Elektroprivreda Srbije" (EPS) transferred its entire founding and ownership share in the Distribution System Operator "EPS Distribucija" to the Republic of Serbia, represented by the Government, whereby "EPS Distribucija" ceased to be part of the EPS system.

By enacting the new founding act, the Distribution System Operator changed its name to "Elektrodistribucija Srbije".

EPS continues to engage in its core business of producing electricity and supplying it to the citizens and economy of Serbia, the company announced.

In accordance with legal obligations, the job of electricity distribution from the transmission system to end users, construction and maintenance of the distribution network, including metering devices, network connections and meter readings, as well as power outages, lie entirely within the responsibility of the Operator distribution system of "Elektrodistribucija Srbije".

Through the transfer of shares, EPS fulfilled its obligations stemming from the Conclusion of the Government of Serbia, which accepted the report on the necessity of harmonizing the operations of the Distribution System Operator with the Law on Public Enterprises and the Law on Energy and the Plan for Reorganization of "EPS Distribucija".

The change of ownership in "EPS Distribucija" was registered on December 31, 2020 by the decision of the Agency for Business Registers (APR). On January 28, 2021, the Government of Serbia passed a decision to change the founding act of "EPS Distribucija", thereby changing its name to "Elektrodistribucija Srbije" and regulating the business of operators, on the basis of which a decision was made on January 29 to establish "Elektrodistribucija Srbije doo Belgrade".
