EPS Making Serious Preparations for Production of Electricity from Solar Power – Construction of Another Two Solar Power Plants in TPP Locations Planned
According to the technical specification, in the first phase, an overview of the professional literature and the realized projects of the usage of ash sites and locations of shut down TPPs for the construction of solar power plants should be provided. The subject of the procurement within the first phase is also an analysis of the potential of solar power in said locations and an estimate of the state of the current thermal technical and electrical energy equipment and facilities at the TPPs.
Phase 2 would entail the preparation of a general project of construction of a solar power plant of up to 9.9 MW at the ash site of the TPP Morava and a preliminary construction feasibility study.
As for Phase 3, it would entail a general project of a solar power plant of 9.9 MW at the ash site of the TPP Kolubara A, also with a preliminary construction feasibility study.
The text of the tender points out that ash disposal sites are considered primary locations for solar power plants, but that “other locations at the TPP Morava and the TPP Kolubara A that are suitable for solar power plants, especially those that would remain unused after the production of electricity through the combustion of coal stops should also be taken into consideration”.
It is added that the concept of optimal solutions for the construction of solar power plants should be picked according to the principle of the minimum amount of time needed to make a return on the investment.
The pilot facility of 9.9 MW, as said, would be financed from the own funds of EPS.
Bids may be submitted by May 21
Let us remind that these are not the first solar power plants planned by the EPS. In addition to the small solar power plant in Zaovine on Tara, EPS is also developing two large solar projects in Kostolac.
These are the solar power plant Petka, of 10 MW, on 15 hectares of the disposal site at the Cirikovac coal excavation site, and the solar facility at the ash disposal site at the TPP Kostolac, on an area of 270 hectares, with over 100 MW.
The construction of these solar power plants was announced in February 2020 by the director of the Sector for Strategy at EPS, Aleksandar Jakovljevic.
