Agreements on Climate Change and Rail Modernization Loans Worth EUR 235 Million Signed
The agreements pertain to the Program Loan for Public Policies for Climate Change and the Loan for the Project of Modernization of the Rail Sector in Serbia through the Implementation of a Multiphase Program Approach and are worth around EUR 235 million.
The loans will be invested in projects of environmental protection and ecological transition of Serbia.
Ana Brnabic said that the first loan was worth EUR 132.6 million and the second EUR 102 million.
As she explained, the first one is co-financed by the EBRD with EUR 82.6 million and the French Development Agency with EUR 50 million, whereas the second one is co-financed by both these organizations with EUR 51 million each.
Brnabic said that the money would be invested in the modernization of railways, which she called the greenest form of transport, and in environmental protection.
The agreements were signed with the French Ambassador to Serbia, Jean-Louis Falconi, the Regional Director for Eurasia of the French Development Agency (AFD), Cecile Couprie, and the Regional Director for the Western Balkans of the World Bank, Linda van Gelder, the Government of Serbia announced on its website.
