The private capital fund Blue Sea Capital has sold its 100% ownership stake in the Croatian company Piramida, which produces glass packaging for the pharmaceutical industry, to the Japanese company Nipro Pharma Packaging International.

The statement made by this fund and the Japanese company, however, does not cite the value of the sales and purchase contract, Seebiz reports.

Piramida from Sesvete produces glass ampules and bottles for the pharmaceutical industry, and last year it produced over half a billion pieces of this kind of packaging, whose purchasers are the leading pharmaceutical companies in the world.

Under the ownership of Blue Sea Capital, Piramida increased the number of employees by 35% and doubled the production capacities and income. It is currently one of the five biggest producers of glass ampules for the pharmaceutical industry in the European market, the press release says. It exports as much as 97% of what it produces.

Nipro Pharma Packaging is a branch of Nipro Corporation, which is listed at the Tokyo Stock Exchange, has over USD 4 billion in annual income and employs more than 33,000 people, the press release adds.
