Halkbank First in Serbia to Begin Program of Support to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises
The program is created in cooperation with the SEF, whose founders are German Development Bank (KfW) and Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and it is a part of the special COVID-19 assistance program of the German Development Cooperation financed by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (“BMZ”) and implemented by KfW. Its goal is to reduce the negative economic effects of the pandemic on Serbian MSME.
SEF provides partial guarantees for loans provided by the Bank to micro, small and medium enterprises, including registered farmers, with the final goal of making businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic more competitive and able to provide, preserve or create new employment opportunities in Serbia. The support initiative covers loans for liquidity and working capital with a term of up to 24 months, as well as loans for investments with a repayment period of up to 60 months, while the maximum loan amount is up to EUR 50,000.
– As a bank focused on SMEs, we will continue to strongly support the real sector with our partners even in this kind of difficult situation – President of the Executive Board of Halkbank a.d. Belgrade, Kenan Bozkurt, stated on this occasion.
The common objective of Halkbank and SEF, in this challenging time, is to support the MSME segment to which Halkbank is traditionally oriented, as well as the segment of agricultural clients that are very important for the Bank.
– It is a great pleasure for us to be the first Bank in Serbia to start this Program and we hope that we will continue to provide support to doing business in general, as well as increase of competitiveness of small businesses – added Kenan Bozkurt, Chairman of the Executive Board of Halkbank a.d.
