PepsiCo interested in investments in Serbia that bring growth, richer portfolio and quality enhancement
- U.S. company PepsiCo has not come to Serbia to stay for few years, but forever - said Aleksej Mekonoshin, the President of that company for southeast Europe.
In an interview for the June issue of Magazin Biznis (Business Magazine), he said that people in PepsiCo were of the opinion that "the time is good for investments" and pointed out that the company was interested in all investments that would result in organic growth, richer portfolio and quality enhancement.
PepsiCo bought snacks manufacturer Marbo in Serbia two years ago.
- We are happy with Marbo's portfolio in Serbia. But, of course, if there are certain possibilities that could contribute to enrichment of the portfolio, there is no doubt that our teams will focus on them - Mekonoshin said when asked if the company was interested in some other acquisition in Serbia and the region after the takeover of Droga Kolinska.
Mekonoshin pointed out that the aim of his first visit to Serbia was to get the picture of the market and talk with the management of Marbo about potential opportunities for new investments.
He announced that the talks would be intensified in the weeks to come and that he would come to Serbia again in few months, maybe with some concrete investment plans.
When it comes to future investments, Mekonoshin said that the global aim of PepsiCo was to invest in reduction of fat in its products.
- Also, we will keep investing in the retail network. We are going to invest in new technologies and equipment that will increase efficiency and, of course, we will invest in environment protection - said Aleksej Mekonoshin.
PepsiCo, of which most famous product is Pepsi coke, consists of beverage sector and food sector. It operates in more than 200 countries with the annual income of 60 billion dollars.
