The hotels in Serbia that have had state subsidies approved due to operating losses caused by the coronavirus pandemic should open special dinar subaccounts at the Treasury Administration, the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications announced on April 7.

The ministry opened the public call for the allocation of these funds on February 24, and EUR 350 in dinar countervalue is to be allocated per individual bed, whereas EUR 150 is to be allocated per accommodation unit.

The right to grants is exercised by categorized private hotels from 76 local self-governments, and the list of the companies for which the subsidies have been approved can be found on the ministry’s website.

The requirement for exercising this right was that there are no bankruptcy proceedings, financial restructuring, or a liquidation procedure against the company and that no pre-packaged reorganization plan procedure is being carried out.

The right to use the subsidy can be lost if the number of employees is reduced by over 10% in the period from the beginning of the aid program to the expiration of a three-month period following the payment of the aid.
