Ministry of Construction: Dobanovci Meets Criteria for Construction of New Airport, Exact Location in Novi Sad to be Determined
– In addition to the existing four airports which carry out international air transport, the construction of another two airports is planned in Serbia, one in Belgrade and one in Novi Sad – the ministry also said for Tanjug.
According to their response to eKapija, the spatial plan primarily reserves space for the adaptation to the planned purpose in the long term:
– The Spatial Plan of the Republic of Serbia from 2021 to 2035 is the main planning document of spatial planning and development in the state, which determines a long-term strategic framework for the directing and management of spatial development. It is carried out through regional spatial plans, spatial plans for special purpose areas and urban plans. The time horizon is 2035, but the long-term strategy, conception and certain planning solutions of spatial development are planned in the long term and not limited to the time horizon of the planning document.
When it comes to the location near Dobanovci, the ministry says that, based on the preliminary analyses, it meets the criteria for the construction of a new airport in the sense of undeveloped area, the relative proximity of the urban area of the City of Belgrade etc.
– The existing location of the Nikola Tesla Airport has certain spatial limitations for further development after 2043. The preparation of a more detailed planning documentation will more precisely define the locations, along with the necessary preparation of the technical documentation. Before the decisions on the construction are adopted, detailed research needs to be carried out, more detailed planning and technical documentation needs to be prepared and other issues need to be solved – it is added.
When it comes to Novi Sad, when asked why Sajkas was chosen instead of Cenej, the ministry says that the exact location of the airport will be determined in the further preparation of the planning and technical documentation.
Let us remind that the Draft Spatial Plan of Serbia until 2035 is up for public review until May 5.
