Japanese Nidec to Buy Land Worth Nearly RSD 1 Billion for Construction of Factory in Novi Sad – Cooperation with Faculty of Technical Sciences Planned as Well

The investment of the Japanese giant Nidec Corporation in Novi Sad is now almost certain, and the City Assembly of Novi Sad has deliberated on the sale of land in Sever 4 (North 4), next to the CTP hall. The land of 21.2 ha is being sold for RSD 993.7 million. Furthermore, the Faculty of Technical Sciences also announces cooperation with this company.

– These are two parcels of 212,000 m2 for the construction of facilities for business activities in the secondary and the tertiary groups. The Government of Serbia has reached the decision determining that this is a project of importance, and the price of RSD 993,669,292.60 has been defined for the parcels. Novi Sad is to get this sum if the investment of the Japanese giant is realized – the mayor of Novi Sad, Milos Vucevic, said on his official Instagram account.

The Japanese company Nidec, a manufacturer of electric motors, has already opened a company in Serbia, and they plan to invest nearly USD 2 billion.

All things considered, highly educated workers will be employed at the new factory, and the Faculty of Technical Sciences has invited students to attend the lecture of Jun Seki, the president of Nidec, which is to be held online on April 8.

They add that, on the same date, the faculty will sign the Agreement on Business-Technical Cooperation with this company and the Memorandum of Understanding with the Kyoto University of Advanced Science, whereby close cooperation with Japanese representatives of economy and education will be realized.

– The arrival of this giant to Novi Sad has been announced as “a revolution in reindustrialization”, and according to earlier announcements, the company should invest around USD 1.9 billion in the construction of the factory. In addition to the factory, Nidec is also building a research and development center in Novi Sad and will employ a large number of our engineers – the Faculty of Technical Sciences says.

Nidec produces electrical motors and has the highest share in the global market of spindle motors for hard drives.

Since 2017, the company has had 296 offices, which, in addition to Japan, are located throughout Asia, Europe and America.
