The director of the National Employment Service, Zoran Martinovic, said that there were 534,000 unemployed people registered at that moment, and that a slight increase of their number, of 3.9% on a year-on-year basis, had been recorded since the beginning of the year.

He said on TV Prva that the increase was not unexpected, considering that many expected the payment of the incentives for the unemployed announced by the state, due to the economy stimulus measures that no longer applied.

– These numbers are not as high as we expected due to all the incentives announced at the moment… We have secured full stability, of course, considering all the circumstances in the labor market. The unemployment rate remains under 10%, according to the projections of the Government of Serbia. We now expect an act (on the measures of help to the unemployed) in the next week – Martinovic said.

He also said that all future payments would be organized by the National Employment Service through Postanska stedionica based on its registers and that the beneficiaries would not be burdened by additional costs.

Martinovic said that there were 13 public calls for incentives and subsidies for employers and self-employment at that moment, worth a total of RSD 5.7 billion.
