Hotel Beograd at the corner of Nemanjina and Balkanska streets will get back its old look from the 1930s, when this building was raised not far from the Old Railway Station. The reconstruction of this facility should start in late 2021, a minimum of EUR 3 million is to be invested in it, and the works should take around three years.

According to the plans of the inheritor, Vladimir Markovic, who got the hotel building back in 2017 in a restitution process, the idea is for this location to be a gathering place for residents of Belgrade and a place where the visitors will be able to learn about the spirit of the old Belgrade.

– I want to bring the old look to this building, in line with the vision of my great-grandfather Vladimir Djordjevic, who raised it in 1936 – Markovic says for Novosti.

– I have already hired architects and the works could start in late 2021. The idea is for the surrounding buildings to also get a new look, making them all a part of a single whole.

According to the business plan, the inheritor of Hotel Beograd is determined to bring the old look to the building, in the context of the current events, where the entire spatial block around the building has been transformed into something quite different, and to have the building reconstructed and brought back to its original purpose, thereby also contributing to making that part of the city more beautiful. So far, urgent investments have been made in the hotel, which has been out of use for a long time, and, according to the business plan, this hospitality-hotel building is to feature a coffee shop, a pastry shop, a coffee roasting shop, a book store and a gallery.

– Located right next to Balkanska Street, Hotel Beograd will be stopping place for all those who love or are yet to fall in love with Belgrade, along with the renovated building of the Old Railway Station, the Stefan Nemanja Monument and the Belgrade Waterfront – the business plan says.
