New Industrial Zone to be Raised in Vrsac – Which Sectors Will it be Meant For?
The parcels, on which the infrastructural equipping of the new industrial zone will begin soon, are located on the road to Zrenjanin, five kilometers away from the city, with a good strategic position next to the Belgrade-Vrsac-Timisoara international railway.
With the support of the Government of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, the construction of a water connection in the next month should mark the beginning of the works on one of the most important projects for the city of Vrsac.
– As for the first phase, for which the funds are fully provided with the expiration of the necessary deadlines for all the procedures now in the spring, in a month or two at most, the agreement also envisages for it to be completed by the end of 2021, and the city of Vrsac will also provide additional funds in cooperation with the higher instances of the authorities and applying with them, in order to be able to finish the whole project and provide investors with a place for new investments as soon as possible – emphasizes Dragana Mitrovic, the mayor of Vrsac.
The new zone will take up 22 hectares, for a start, because there’s a possibility of expansion to up to 200 hectares, and it is meant for the pharmaceutical industry, the food industry, small and medium enterprises, logistics centers. However, there will be no room for big polluters.
– Everyone who wants to implement their own technology which entails major pollution will have to comply with the environmental protection requirements in order to even work here. This will be a modern zone which will provide great possibilities for the city’s development – notes Zorica Popovic, the head of the department for urban planning and construction.
The local self-government says that the construction of the “Sever” zone is a priority, because it is a precondition for the arrival of new investors, the creation of new jobs and the further development of the city, especially considering that all the locations at the Technology Park are long since filled out.
The entire project will require RSD 240 million, and the funds are to be provided partly from the city budget and partly through an application on a state level.
