One of the most important projects that the Russian side is interested in is an investment in the project of BG Voz, worth between 850 and 900 million euros, Beoinfo reports, following the meeting between the deputy mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic, and the minister for innovations and technological development of Serbia, Nenad Popovic, with the deputy minister of industry and trade of Russia, Oleg Ryazantsev, where Russian investments in Belgrade were discussed.

Vesic said that joint projects to be carried out thanks to the interstate agreement between Serbia and Russia had been discussed at the meeting.

– One of the most important projects that the Russian side is interested in and that we are talking about is the investment in the BG Voz project. That is a project worth 850 to 900 million euros, which will complement the future subway system – Vesic said.

He said that BG Voz should connect all the suburban municipalities of Belgrade – those that are already connected to the BG Voz system, such as parts of Zemun, Lazarevac, but also those that are not connected yet, such as Surcin and Obrenovac – in order to integrate the whole city.

– If this project is done with the Russian side, we insist on a part of the production being done in Serbia, so as to support local production and to have a part of the money we are investing go to our gross domestic product – Vesic said.

– A month ago, we met with the deputy prime minister of Russia, Yury Borisov, when we agreed for the designing of everything related to the modern construction of the suburban rail system around Belgrade to start – said Popovic, who is also a co-president of the Serbian-Russian Intergovernmental Committee for Trade, Economic and Science-Technical Cooperation.

He pointed out that the City of Belgrade had reacted very fast and that the deputy mayor and his team had been working very efficiently in the preceding month.

He added that the Russian side could show a lot, because, as he points out, in the past seven to eight years, Moscow has built some of the best suburban rail systems in all of Europe.

– Contemporary, modern, ecologically at the highest level possible and, very importantly, innovative and featuring state-of-the-art technology on the European level – Popovic said.
