Cooperation of Serbia with Energy Community in Energy Transition Process
The minister reminded that Serbia presided over the Ministerial Council of the Energy Community in 2021 and that there were plenty of topics that the country needs to work on together with the EC, including energy transition, decarbonization and climate change.
Mihajlovic underlined that the activities launched concerning the reorganization of the Serbian power utility company “Elektroprivreda Srbije” and “Srbijagas” must be continued, in line with the decisions of the government, by which Serbia's contractual obligation to the Energy Community will also be fulfilled.
Mihajlovic and Kopac also discussed activities related to the separation of activities within energy companies, certification and licensing of energy companies in line with EU regulations, preparation of an integrated national plan for climate and energy and disputes that are conducted before the Energy Community Secretariat.
Kopac introduced Mihajlovic to the issues related to the Serbian energy sector that are current for the Energy Community and the initiative of the community to monitor carbon-dioxide emissions, which Serbia could join.
The meeting was attended by the head of EU Delegation to Serbia, Sem Fabrizi, as announced by the Cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy.
