The Board for Cooperation of Science and Economy of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS) plans to organize Speed Networking Meetings between large companies and startups, young scientists and researchers, the CCIS announced. The aim is for innovative solutions offered by the science community to find efficient application in the economy, announced Dr Mila Milenkovic, the president of the board.

– Creating quality propositions and initiatives which will contribute to the transfer of knowledge and technology, a better use of the results of scientific research and the creation of conditions for a quicker economic development and increased competitiveness of companies will be in the focus of the activities of the board in the upcoming period – Milenkovic pointed out.

The basic strategic directions of the activities have been agreed – talks and open discussion between the sectors of science and economy, networking and improving communication between scientific research organizations with the economy, exchange of knowledge and experiences.

One of the main goals of the board, whose members are Telekom Srbija, NIS, ABB, Festo, Carlsberg Srbija, BitGear, Telegroup and others, is to support the development innovations through the Club of Open Innovations of the CCIS in order to connect large companies with small and medium enterprises and startups.

– This entails the creation of a stimulative environment for the development of innovations, the promotion of good practices, financial and non-financial support to the realization of innovative ideas, connecting all the key participants, from scientific research institutions to the economy and companies – Milenkovic says.

Talks between the directors of large companies and startups are planned as well. The companies will present their technological needs, and the scientists will present their research results. The cooperation with the Center for Technology Transfer is meant to utilize the innovative potentials of universities, which can be applied in the economy.

In the second half of the year, the board is expected to open a contest and invite all young scientists, researchers and startups to apply their innovative solutions that might be implemented by large systems in their operations.

– We are already talking with some members of the board and this should be a joint project that would produce visible results of our cooperation – Milenkovic announced.

The CCIS founded the Board for Cooperation of Science and Economy in 2018, with the aim of promoting a better cooperation between companies and research institutions.

In addition to companies, members of the board include representatives of ministries, scientific research organizations, institutions which support and promote innovative activities.
