Vaccination of Truck Drivers Solution for Delays at Borders?

Germany has secured a great number of people and testing locations, thereby reducing truck delays at borders, so they no longer have to wait for hours, the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS), Marko Cadez, stated and added that the vaccination of drivers was the best permanent solution to the problem.

He said for the biznis.rs portal that such a proposition had already been presented to the competent organs in Germany.

– The Ministry of Transport of Germany, as agreed, will consider our proposal together with other competent ministries and we hope for an affirmative answer – Cadez said.

He pointed out that the CCIS was also working on a more permanent solution to the problem of goods transport during the pandemic within the Eurochambers organization, which represents 20 million companies.

– We advocate a simplification of the procedures and the harmonization of the rules within the single market for all European companies, including those from the Western Balkans. We have been supported by the Council of the European Union in this, through recommendations to member states, especially from Portugal, which is currently the presiding state in the EU – Cadez said.

He added that one of the requirements of the Eurochambers Single Market Board, where he is a co-chairman with his Finnish colleague, was for all the member states to enable forwarders to enter the EU without the condition of a PCR test, with proof of an antigen test and then only at the first border.
