Belgrade Airport Gets New Central Passenger Zone and Tesla Square
The reconstruction took five months and was carried out in cooperation with the company Dufry, the biggest tenant at the airport, the commercial director of the Nikola Tesla Airport, Miodrag Mirkovic, told Tanjug.
The new zone, which is entered immediately after the passport control, encompasses an expanded and modernized free shop of 876 square meters, a rest zone for passengers called the Tesla Square, with seating furniture, a restaurant and a café bar, a gaming zone and a new area for parents and children near gates 4 and 5.
– The main commercial zone has been rearranged in line with the entire reconstruction of the airport, so we’ve provided more comfort to the passengers. Together with our tenant Dufry, we invested more than EUR 2 million in this zone and made a new duty-free shop, which is supplied with new brands and an improved offer of local products and which absolutely enables the maximum degree of comfort for the passengers – Mirkovic says.
He added that, at the Tesla Square, in addition to the rest area, there was also a gaming zone with free-to-use game consoles for passengers of all ages. He also said that passengers could use free internet in the entire zone.
– There’s also a restaurant with over 200 seats, built according to the highest standards, so we now have a complete zone with nearly 2,000 square meters meant for the passengers’ rest, in line with the best standards of Vinci, which this company promotes in all the 45 airports it runs worldwide – Mirkovic emphasized.
Mirkovic emphasized that all the big investment projects were going as planned, regardless of the epidemic and the consequent crisis and despite the fact that the airport and the entire air transport sector were majorly affected by the crisis.
Thorough works on the expansion of the airport’s capacities, in which Vinci is investing over EUR 730 million, are in progress.
This pertains to the expansion of the airport terminal, the construction of a new runway, 3.5 kilometers long, new taxiways and aircraft parking spaces, a de-icing platform, a new car parking lot with over 1,500 spaces and access roads.
