Serbia Has 35.75 Tons of Gold Reserves

The National Bank of Serbia has 35.75 tons of gold reserves, worth a total of EUR 1.77 billion.

On January 31, 2021, the gross foreign exchange reserves of the NBS amounted to EUR 13.6 million, of which 13% consisted of gold reserves, the NBS announced.

The share of gold in FX reserves increased from 5.7% in late 2021 to the current 13%. Around 96% of the gold is kept in the form of gold bars, and the rest is kept in the form of forged gold.


On average, a bar weighs around 12.5 kilograms. All the bars meet the highest international standards when it comes to pureness, shape and weight.
