Mišković sells Maxi markets to Belgians?
(Miroslav Mišković)
Serbian businessman Miroslav Mišković plans to sell Maxi market chain to a Belgian company, B92 learns.
The information that the transaction may be made through Mišković's company, which is registered on Cyprus, was the reason for Boris Tadić's appeal for economic patriotism.
He said it was unacceptable that no tax would be paid for such takeovers in Serbia.
Novi Sad's weekly magazine Akter specified in the text published today that BelgianLouis Delhaize Group was one step away from buying the majority package of shares in Maxi.
Belgian Delhauze Group is one step away from the majority package of shares (51%), while Mišković's new strategy will be to make new investments and stimulate the development of, primarily, Delta Agrar, which will direct its potentials to the market of Russia.
The source of the magazine confirms that Austrian Interspar and French Carrefour were also interested in Maxi, the biggest retail market chain in Serbia, but the best offer was the one given by the Belgian group, which also owns famous Cora hypermarket chain and supermarket chain Match.
Company Hemslade stands behind Delta Holding and, according to the current regulations, when a non-resident sells capital to a non-resident, the payment of the tax on capital profit of 10% is not required.
Delta Holding denied the media writings that it was in the final negotiations on the sale of Delta Maxi market chain.
It is confirmed in the company's statement that several investment funds and multinational companies expressed interest in entering the ownership structure of Delta Maxi and that Delta has received few offers, but it is pointed out that none of the potential partners is in the final negotiations with Delta.
