United Group Criticizes Telenor and Telekom, Announces Lawsuits and Addressing EU
– Having learned that there is proof of this unfair business alliance in the form of official documents, United Group will file lawsuits at local and international judicial organs and will also address all relevant institutions in the European Union – United Group says in its press release.
The press release further says that “the participation of Telekom in this cartel-like association for the purpose of suppressing free media in Serbia is not surprising” and adds that “for years, United Group has been pointing to the obstructions, pressures and unfair conduct by Telekom, whose monopolistic behavior has always been backed by the highest state officials of Serbia”.
United Group says that “although it is unlawful for a state company to be the direct or indirect owner of media, Telekom has been increasing its influence on the media year after year”.
– Telekom has even gone a step further and no longer hides its intent to become the only “supplier of media content”, that is, to establish a monopoly in the sphere of public information. All these unlawful activities of Telekom have been unreservedly supported by the authorities all this time. Now the Czech company Telenor has gotten involved in the efforts to deny access to free media to citizens of Serbia, and those citizens may pay the highest price here, due to not being able to receive true information – United Group says in its press release.
It is added that United Group recently sent to the European Union “indisputable proof and facts about the unfair conduct of Telekom in Serbia and the legally unacceptable aid provided for this company by all state organs”.
– Due to the latest evidence, we will also have to point to the fact that a European company, owned by Petr Kellner, has gotten involved in a pact attempting to destroy our company – United Group says in the press release.
