French and Chinese Companies Partners of Serbia on Subway Project from Today
The Memorandum of Understanding concerning the Belgrade Subway project was signed by the minister at the Palace of Serbia with the director of the PUE Beogradski metro i voz, Stanko Kantar, the Senior Vice President at Alstom, Philippe Delleur, the CEO of Egis Rail, Olivier Bouvart, and a representative of PowerChina, Xie Zidi.
The signing was attended by Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirovic, Belgrade Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic, Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo and French Ambassador to Serbia Jean-Louis Falconi.
The first line of the Belgrade Subway should go from Makisko Polje through the Belgrade Waterfront, city center and Karaburma to Mirijevo.
The second line will go from Mirijevo to New Belgrade and Zemun. The subway project is one of the most important infrastructural projects for 2021.
The interstate agreement on the realization of infrastructure projects with France, signed on November 26, 2020, was ratified in late 2020.
The value of the agreement is EUR 581 million, of which the first EUR 127 million is meant for an upgrade of the efficiency of the power distribution network, whereas EUR 454 million will be put into the construction of the first subway line.
The Ministry of Construction announced earlier that the first line, from Makisko Polje to Mirijevo, might be completed within three years of the beginning of the works.
