The beginning of the construction of a new mine in Raska by 2024 and geological explorations in Serbia were the topics of the conversation between Serbian Mining and Energy Minister Zorana Mihajlovic and the management of Adriatic Metals.

– Mining in Serbia has great potential for investments and we plan, through amendments to the Law on Mining and Geological Explorations, to further upgrade the legal framework, simultaneously providing investors with security and predictability – Mihajlovic said, as announced by the ministry.

The Managing Director and CEO of the British company Adriatic Metal, Paul Cronin, said that the company had recognized Serbia as a successful economy with a good legal framework and great potential in the field of mining.

– An important thing about Serbia is that some of the world’s largest mining companies are already present here and I believe that we can also realize a project in Serbia successfully. Our company is already present in this region, in B&H, where we have a strong focus on environmental protection and cooperation with the local community, and we will have the same approach in Serbia – Cronin said.

The meeting was also attended by Zsuzsanna Hargitai, the Regional Director for Western Balkans at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
