Several thousand online workers have protested in front of the National Assembly of Serbia, because they do not want the retroactive collection of five years’ worth of taxes and not in the amounts higher than half their five-year income. As the Association of Online Workers announced, they were invited by the Government of Serbia to have a meeting on Monday.

– The Association of Online Workers will respond to the invitation and reiterate its demands: the stopping of the tax control and collection for the past period and the beginning of the negotiations about the resolving of the legal and tax status of online workers – the association announced.

Online workers organized within an informal group in October 2020, when the Tax Administration sent over 2,000 “requests for control”, that is, decisions featuring the amounts and the interests they are obliged to pay in the form of taxes and contributions.
