Tram Traffic Across the Danube Too? – In Addition to Old Rail Bridge, New Lines Possible on Pancevac
The head urban planner of Belgrade, Marko Stojcic, said for Beogradska Hronika that the studies should provide answers to the most important questions regarding this idea.
– The answers concerning the Old Rail Bridge pertain to the question whether the construction is still stable, that is, whether it can withstand additional load. Also, it will be analyzed whether it is possible to expand this bridge, as it was designed for a one-track railway, which means that there couldn’t be a two-track tram line there – Stojcic said.
The study for the Pancevo Bridge should be done in 2021, Beoinfo reports.
– There’s also the idea to expand this bridge for a tram system, that is, by a track on each side. In addition to the future bridge on Ada Huja, the designing of which is well on its way, we are also looking at the reconstruction of the Pancevo Bridge, and the study we are waiting for will show whether it can be expanded to accommodate tram traffic – Stojcic said.
