Project of Modernization of Nis-Brestovac Railway Close to Realization – Tender for Technical Control of Project for Building Permit Opens

Project of reconstruction and modernization of the Nis-Brestovac railway, which is part of the Nis-Presevo-Macedonian border railway, is entering the final phase.

The Serbian Railways Infrastructure has opened the tender for the technical control of the project for the building permit for the reconstruction of this railway.

The value of the works has been estimated at RSD 3 million without the VAT, whereas the deadline for the submission of bids is January 22.

The value of the project is EUR 60 million, of which the European Union will provide 85% of the funds, and the rest is to be provided by the state of Serbia.

The Nis-Brestovac railway section belongs to the southern part of the pan-European Corridor X and is of great importance for the regional and international traffic.

This project aims to develop the railway infrastructure for a speed of 120 km/h and to integrate the most important international railways of the pan-European corridor X through Serbia, which the Nis-Brestovac section belongs to.

The works to be done by the consortium of Trace Srbija ad Nis and the Bulgarian Balkantel should have started in the fourth quarter of 2020, as it was announced on the website of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.

The planned deadline period for the completion of the construction is 33 months.
