Umprom from Stara Pazova, one of the few producers of plastic packaging for the pharmaceutical, chemical and cosmetics industry in Serbia, is expanding its production capacities.

According to the company’s financial director, Radmila Vagic, the company, which has been operating in the Serbian market for 33 years, is to begin building a new production complex in the business zone Volarsko Polje, at the entrance to Stara Pazova. According to the urban planning project, prepared by Konsalting d.o.o. from Stara Pazova, and the preliminary design, prepared by Eling Plan from Novi Sad, the complex will consist of a management building, a production hall with an annex and three storage spaces, with accompanying facilities such as a toolshed and a facility for the production of wire lanes.

– The new production complex will be three times as large as the current one, which is located in Stara Pazova, and it will take up an area of 3,800 m2. The preparatory works have already begun and we expect the operations to begin next autumn – Radmila Vagic says for eKapija and points out that the new complex, worth around EUR 1.5 million, will increase the production capacity by 50% and that the plan is for an increase to be even greater.

As she said, Umprom has a range of around 250 products, mostly PET and polyethylene bottles, but also packaging for ointments, pharmaceutical, chemical and cosmetics products.

– The production capacity is up to 3 million units a month, which depends on the requests, but orders numbering in million mostly come from foreign companies – our interviewee says.

She adds that the company has excellent cooperation with clients from Germany, England, France and Hungary, and of the big clients in Serbia, she cites Hemofarm, Lilly drogerie, Stevan Still, Alkaloid… According to Radmila Vagic, Umprom, which she says takes up at least 80% of the Serbian plastic packaging for said industries, has not been affected by the coronavirus crisis, on the contrary.

– Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have been working at full steam. We have increased the volume of the production of the packaging for disinfectants and anesthetics and the entire production increased by more than 40%. We have employed another 15 workers and now we have 65 employees. We have also expanded our pool of clients and our annual income has gone from 2 to 3 million euros – our interviewee emphasizes.

She adds that the company will orient to the further penetration of the Western Europe and the development of the PET packaging in the future, considering that this is what Europe is looking for.
