Following a sharp drop in the activities of the companies from the sector of transport and logistics in the second quarter of the year, the business increased in the early summer period. While the situation is slowly normalizing, the news that the economy ministers of the Berlin Process members had supported the removal of barriers to more successful operations within the region and with the European Union, including the establishment of green corridors on the main border checkpoints with the EU, was welcomed with delight. A green light for this project could be the first step toward an “economic integration” of the markets of the Western Balkans Six into the Union’s market.

Along with shorter delays at border checkpoints, quality infrastructure is also of great importance for the development of the sector of logistics and transport – new traffic routes, railways, but also port terminals, equipped airports… In Serbia, before the pandemic, several important traffic routes were built, the first rail cargo line between Serbia and China was established, investments in water and air transport were launched. The local politicians promise that the pandemic will not stop the started projects or those within the Serbia 2025 investment cycle, which is worth EUR 14 billion.

The sector of transport and logistics is not an exception when it comes to global digitalization, and the pandemic has definitely accelerated the changes. The expectations are that the implementation of new technologies will improve the performances of the supply chains, enable lower costs, increase the productivity and accelerate the distribution.

These are only some of the news from the field of transport, and we will reveal in our new Special Edition Newsletter Transport and Logistics – Our Connection with the World how the sector of transport and logistics is coping with the challenges of the pandemic, what they have had to adapt to, which projects they have had to postpone and which ones, on the other hand, they have had to launch and what is new in the market.

We talk about the current projects with representatives of Gebruder Weiss, cargo-partner, WTO, LKW, Milšped, Letač, Transfera. The companies which present their products, services, solutions and projects are RE/MAX, Slobodna zona Pirot, Aks Express Kurir, Špica, Zodax, Metal sistemi plus, Zenšped...
