Delta to Open Tender for Renovation of Sava Centar – Works Potentially to Begin in Late 2021
Delta's vice president, Zivorad Vasic, said on TV Prva that Sava Centar would be renovated within 18 months of the beginning of the works, that the architects were arriving and that a tender would be opened.
He noted that the paperwork would be completed by January and that Sava Centar would close when the renovation starts and the facade starts being replaced.
He announced that the facade was to be done first and that it would be an energy-modern, three-fold facade, but also added that the facility would keep the same look and reminded that the congress center is protected by law.
– The facade remains absolutely the same, but we will light it so that the congress center is visible from all sides – Vasic said.
He says that the current 16,000 square meters will be kept as commercial space and that all the halls will be fully renovated, keeping the same dimensions.
– We are creating a whole new multimedia space. It will be a state-of-the-art congress hall, where we will be able to bring 5,000, 6,000, 7,000 people – Vasic said.
He said that Sava Centar would be connected with Crowne Plaza, also owned by Delta, and that the company would bring famous world brands and world restaurants, that there would be a rent-a-car facility, guides and entertainment features for children.
Delta Holding had offered the initial price of EUR 17.5 million for Sava Centar.
The sale of the biggest congress center in Serbia took place on November 9 and was carried out through public bidding.
The terms of the contest were to accept a minimum investment of EUR 50 million in Sava Centar over a period of five years and not to change the purpose of the facility.
