Number of Local Tourists a Fifth Higher Than Last Year – Foreign Visits Still Low
Local tourists mostly visited spas, namely Sokobanja and Vrnjacka Banja, mountains, especially Zlatibor and Kopaonik, as well as Belgrade.
When it comes to foreign tourists, there were 94,196 overnight stays, which is 76% less than in the same month in 2019, but nearly 14,000 more than in August 2020.
Most overnight stays were realized by tourists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Montenegro, Russia and Germany.
In the first nine months of 2020, a total of 1,464,664 tourists visited Serbia, which is 48% less than in the same period last year.
There were 1,110,656 local tourists, 22% less than in the first nine months of the previous year, whereas the number of foreign tourists was 75% lower at 354,008.
Foreign tourists mostly stayed in Belgrade, followed by Kopaonik, Zlatibor, Novi Sad and Vrnjacka Banja.
