Third Quarter at Belgrade Airport Sees 77% Passengers Less Than Last Year
In July, according to the press release, the number of passengers was lower by 84.1%, and in September it was lower by 69.7%.
– In the first nine months of the current year, the total number of passengers amounted to 1,468,000, which is 68.7% less compared to the same period in 2019. Commercial flights at the Belgrade Airport more than halved in this third quarter, as there were 9,972, that is, 55.5% less compared to the period of July-September 2019 – Vinci Airports announced.
The number of passengers served at 45 airports within the Vinci network in the third quarter was lower by 79.1% compared to the same period last year, amounting to 15 million passengers. In the first nine months, the total number of passengers was lower by 67.9% compared to the same period in 2019.
According to the press release, passenger traffic recorded a partial growth during the summer season, as the borders had gradually opened from June 15 in the Schengen zone countries, and travel restrictions were made milder in many countries.
– The airports from which primarily tourist and local flights are carried out were in the best position concerning the new circumstances in July and August. This improvement lasted until September, when travel restrictions came into effect again – it was announced.
