Serbian Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic has sent a request for the payment of the third tranche of EU support of EUR 8 million, which will be used for an upgrade of the system of integrated management of Serbian borders, with the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a beneficiary, and the payment is expected in early 2021, the minister's cabinet announced.

Joksimovic, who is also the National IPA Coordinator, says that the aim of the support is to help the Government of Serbia to establish borders which are open for a free flow of goods and people, while still being well controlled and protected from unlawful activities of any kind, in line with the guidelines and principles of the European Union concerning integrated border management.

– This support is important, because it will contribute to more efficient border crossing, detecting cross-border crime, increasing institutional and operational capacities of border agencies in carrying out border control and supervision and more efficient detection of irregular migrations – Joksimovic emphasized.
