Japanese Nidec Corporation interested in construction of factory in Novi Sad Industrial Zone – Possible investment worth up to USD 1 billion

(Illustration) The Provincial Prime Minister , Igor Mirovic, has confirmed the arrival of the Japanese company Nidec Corporation to Novi Sad, previously announced by the Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic. He said that this manufacture of small-size electric motors plans to build a production facility in the industrial zone near the Novi Sad refinery.

– Owing to the joint efforts of the the Provincial Government and Vojvodina Development Agency and our presence in large investment fairs, the Japanese Nidec Corporation is coming to Novi Sad, Mirovic wrote on his Instagram profile.

He added that they first came in contact with the company at the Munich trade fair and after a two-year negotiation process brought Nidec to Novi Sad.

They will hire several hundred workers in the industrial zone near the refinery, Mirovic said.

However, according to the Novi Sad Mayor, Milos Vucevic, the decision is not yet final the negotiation are still underway whereas the Japanese delegation should visit Serbia this week.

– The high-level delegation from Japan is supposed to visit Belgrade and Novi Sad this week. Novi Sad is is one of the potential cities in Europe where they are considering investments. We don't have competition in Serbia but other cities in Europe, absolutely. The state, the province and the city of Novi Sad have made a serious offer to Nidec. The value of the investment is in the range of a half to a billion dollars and will create several thousand jobs, the Mayor told the press and also announced the possible arrival of another German division of the Continental Company.

Nidec Corporation was founded in Japan in 1973 and is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of small-size electric motors for computers, household appliances and automobiles.
