Geotechnical Explorations for Pozega-Kotroman Highway Begin – Section to Feature 66 Tunnels and 27 Bridges

Geotechnical explorations for the highway section between Pozega and Kotroman are in progress. Vladimir Filipovic, the director of the Geotechnical Department of the CIP Institute of Transportation, said that the works were being carried out on the first two section from Pozega to Mackat.

– Explorations are carried out to the end of testing the land and its qualities. There are currently works on a location in Potocanj and the tunnel that goes through the nearby hill. The geotechnical explorations for the preliminary project entail the boring of around 4,000 meters, and the project for the construction permit requires around 11,000 m more. We plan to finish the explorations before the winter comes so as to start the preparation of the design as soon as possible – said Filipovic, as announced on the website of the City of Uzice.

The mayor of Uzice, Jelena Rakovic Radivojevic, pointed out that, for the City of Uzice, the proximity of the highway was important as well and added that the section from Pozega to Kotroman would be 61 km long, 26 km of which are in the territory of the City of Uzice.

– According to the current plans, the connection of Uzice with the future highway will be realized through Zlakusa and Mackat interchanges. These geotechnical explorations will also define the future highway route with more precision. The city authorities are analyzing the locations for potential future industrial zones, which our city needs, and it will be of invaluable importance for the development of Uzice and the entire region.

The director of the PE Uzice Razvoj, Nikola Maksimovic, said that there were a total of 66 tunnels and 27 bridges on the section of the future highway from Pozega to Kotroman.
