The heads of the diplomatic missions and representatives of the member-states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Serbia have pointed out, on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the founding, that they are committed to strengthening the relations with the government and the people of Serbia.

– We appreciate and welcome Serbia’s interest to seek closer relationship with ASEAN. In this connection, we seek to further tap on the potential of ASEAN and Serbia to promote substantial cooperation in the economic and socio-cultural fields. For this purpose, there is a need to identify and pursue collective activities of common interest such as enhancing people-to-people contact, business and investment, and culture for the mutual benefit of ASEAN and Serbia – said the heads of the diplomatic missions and representatives of the ASEAN members in Serbia.

They emphasized that they are looking to continue promoting the progress and interests of the ASEAN in Serbia, considering that, for years, the ASEAN has had a central role in the strengthening of the stability, prosperity and peace in the Southeast Asian region.

– ASEAN continues to remain united, and to act jointly and decisively to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic while mitigating its adverse impact on our people’s livelihood, our societies and economies – says the joint press release signed by the Ambassador of Indonesia, Mochammad Chandra Widya Yudha, the Ambassador of the Union of Myanmar, Thurain Thant Zin, the Ambassador of Cambodia, Tan Vutha, Charge d'Affaires at the Embassy of Malaysia, Nik Ady Arman Nik Mohd Kamil, the Honorary Consul of Thailand, Zoran Djukanovic, and the Honorary Consul of the Philippines, Dragijana Radonjic Petrovic.
