Across from the flea market in Block 42 in new Belgrade, a new bus station is being built. Around 90% of the platform has been paved, the piles for the new station building have been dug in, access roads are being prepared, and a part of the activities of the Belgrade Bus Station (BAS) will be moved there by the end of the year.

The deputy mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic, said this for Tanjug and reminded that the new bus station in Block 42 is being built by BAS from its own resources, based on an agreement on the public-private partnership with the City of Belgrade, which has provided the location, the connections and the access roads.

He said that the piles and the foundations for the new, large station building, had been laid down and added that the city was also preparing access roads around the complex, which entails the expansion of all traffic routes, because, once the new bus station starts operating, there will be a much greater number of buses and cars there.

Vesic said that the City of Belgrade was also considering the possibility of changing the General Regulation Plan so as to accommodate several smaller bus stations, which would also be offered to BAS, as a partner to the city, for management.

He clarified that those bus stations would be located on the city's periphery, with the aim being to make the traffic at the entrance to Belgrade less busy.

– BAS has also expressed an intention to talk with the railway sector, whereby it would also operate the New Belgrade railway station. To clarify, when Milan Lojanica, one of our most respected architects, designed the new bus station, a preliminary design for the new railway station in New Belgrade was also prepared and it would be ideal for all this to be under the same roof – Vesic said.
