First organic raspberries from Western Serbia in summer
- Organic raspberries grown in Rađevina, in the northwest of Serbia, will be offered this year to the market for the first time - the Institute of Agriculture in Loznica announced.
This summer, about 70 raspberry growers from the villages of Kostajnik and Šljivova in Rađevina, who have decided for organic production of food, will offer the first raspberries produced without use of chemical means to cold storage plant Berry Frost in Loznica.
The expert for fruit growing in the Institute, Zlatica Krsmanović, said to the press that organic production of food was natural, healthy and more profitable.
She pointed out that that form of raspberry growing in Serbia in 2009 had brought 10% higher profit than the conventional production.
Krsmanović said that Rađevina had great potential for organic production since agricultural activities had not included the use of chemical means until recently.
The Institute of Agriculture covers the municipality of Loznica and neighboring municipalities of Krupanj, Ljubovija and Mali Zvornik. Most Important News
