Agroprofit Association Warns of Total Stop of Sale of Fattened Cattle – Export Only Solution

The Agroprofit association requires the state to secure the export of beef, as a total stop of the sale of fattened cattle is being faced by more than 6,000 farms which carry out serious activities in this area. The farmers simply don't know how to cover the costs, the press release says.

Each year, up to 86,000 various categories of cattle are slaughtered in Serbia for full processing and consumption, and the offer is greater than 250,000 head of livestock. Households in Serbia consume up to four kilograms of beef per member annually. This data shows that the self-sufficiency is a serious problem for livestock breeding and that exporting routes need to be found as soon as possible, because most farmers will give up on these activities otherwise.
