In early July, the consortium led by Leitner AG started building a new gondola on Kopaonik. The route has been cleared and the construction of the entrance and the exit stations has begun and might be completed by the end of this year. However, given the current problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic, it is realistic to expect for the first skiers to to be able to ride this gondola in the 2021/22 season, InfoKop reports.

Let us remind that, in March, the PE Ski Resorts of Serbia awarded the public procurement contract on the construction of the Brzece-Mali Karaman gondola, with the side infrastructure, as a turnkey project, to the consortium led by Leitner AG. In addition to this Italian company, the works will be carried out by Brzmin, Elkoms, Deling, Ornament Investinzenjering, Estuar and Zapis Pro. The works are worth EUR 22.49 million without VAT.

The agreement pertains to the delivery of a cabin ski-lift for the Brzece (Bela reka)-Mali Karaman route, with cabins for 10, the construction of another, side ski-track, and the preparation of the technical documentation for the snowing projects for the new ski-tracks and Bela reka 1 and Bela reka 2 ski-tracks. The construction of the snowing system is not part of the agreement. The works will include the disassembly of the full installation of two-seat ski-lifts Bela reka 1 and Bela reka 2.
