Twelve banks operating in Serbia have offered their users the option of instant payment at merchant's point-of-sale. Ten of those banks also offer the option of payments through scanning the NBS IPS QR code on printed bills and invoices at merchants’ points-of-sale.

National Bank of Serbia launched the instant payment system back in 2018 via electronic banking, mobile banking and by submitting payment orders at tellers of payment service providers.

– Gradually rolling out additional innovative services under the IPS system is a part of this complex and multiphase project, NBS said.

The central bank introduced the option of initiating the payment at the merchant's point-of-sale in February.

– Some of the business organizations that issue payment request include EPS, Telekom Srbija, Telenor, VIP Mobile and other entities that have a two-dimensional NBS IPS QR code on their printed bills and invoices.

NBS prepared a summary of instant payment services at merchant's point-of-sale the banks offered and published it on their website.
