Future electricity production in small hydroelectric power plants on Kopaonik mountain
On the territory covered by the Spatial Plan for National Park Kopaonik (NPK), electric energy is planned to be produced in small hydroelectric power plants (MHE), based on water intake structures on watercourses and artificial lakes, primarily on the territory of NPK and with the units in NPK's protection zone.
Therefore, eight small hydroelectric power plants will be built, one of which will be constructed on the edge of the territory of NPK, while the rest will be built in NPK's protection zone. Their total installed power will amount to about 11 MW.
On the edge of the territory of NPK, in the zone of the third level of protection, MHE Duboka with the installed power of about 0.3 MW (E=1,050,000 kWh) will be built, with the water intake structure in the Duboka, beneath the nature reserve Duboka and with machine building at the mouth of the Zaplaninska river.
Small hydroelectric power plants on the territory of NPK's protection zone are:
1) two MHE Samokovska Reka, from Kadijevac to Jošanička Banja spa resort, with total installed power of about 5.50 MW:
– MHE Samokovska Reka I, with the water intake structure in the riverbed of the Samokovska river, underneath artificial lake Kadijevac, buried derivation pipeline (whose major part passes through the protection zone of the third level of protection in NPK) and machine buildings in suitable microlocation near the entrance to NPK; total downfall of water is about 700 meters, while installed power will amount to about 5.0 MWh (E= 20,000.000 kWh);
– MHE Samokovska Reka II, located in spa resort Jošanička Banja, will use the used water from MHE Samokovska Reka I, with the installed power of 0.5 MWh (E= 3,000.000 kWh);
2) three MHE Jablanova Ravan – Rudnička Reka, with total installed power of about 3.83 MW:
– MHE Lisina with the water intake structure in artificial lake Jablanova Ravan and installed power of 1.08 MW (E= 2,260.000 kWh);
– MHE Babin Breg with installed power of 1.67 MW (E= 6,800.000 kWh);
– MHE Rudnica with installed power of 1.08 MW (E= 2,970.000 kWh).
3) two MHE Gobeljska Reka with the water intake structure in the Šutanovačka river and the Gobeljska river and total installed power of about 1.25 MW:
– MHE Đorđevići I with the water intake structure in the Šutanovačka river on the territory of NPK, the downfall of 500 meters and machine building beneath village Đorđevići, with the installed power of 0.75 MW (E= 3,000.000 kWh);
– MHE Đorđevići II with the water intake structure in the Gobeljska river on the territory of NPK, downfall of 150 meters and generator in machine building MHE Đorđevići I, with the installed power of 0.50 MW (E= 2,000.000 kWh).
In addition to aforementioned MHE, the Spatial Plan also reserves the space for potential locations of MHE, based on the study of the locations of future MHE of public company Electric Power Company of Serbia – Directorate for Strategy and Investments from year 2006.
