The Group for Renewable Energy Sources (RES) of the Association for Energy and Mining of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia has supported the project “Support for the Implementation of Renewable Energy Auctions in Serbia”, launched by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) at the request of the Ministry of Mining and Energy.

The project aims to provide support to state institutions in the process of Serbia switching from the model of feed-in tariffs to auctions and feed-in premiums in the field of stimulating renewable energy sources, which should result in a recommendation to the ministry for a plan of auctions and a full regulatory, financial and institutional framework with a proposal of a model of a new agreement for producers from this field.

The vice-president of the Group for RES of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, Milos Colic, says that it is positive that the Government of Serbia obviously intends to prepare the regulations properly and introduce the auction system.

– That is a very complex job and it is good that the Ministry of Mining and Energy has recognized the EBRD as a partner and support in this project. As someone who has worked on the development of four wind farms in Serbia, I am ready, as are my colleagues, to help with my knowledge and experience, so we felt the need to express this through the Group for RES. Our next step is to organize a round table about this subject. Many European states have adopted new regulations. Croatia recently adopted quotas for the auction model, so I hope that intensive work on regulations in Serbia will begin after the election. RES are no longer an alternative, but the future and the safety of the energy sector – Milos Colic, the director of New Energy Solutions, which runs Kovacica and Cibuk wind farms, said for eKapija.

The Group for RES consists of experts who, in addition to being experienced professionals, are also the winners of the Business Leader and Business Success awards that the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia hands out to the most successful business people and the most innovative and practical business solutions in the country.

The group has also adopted an initiative which supports the efforts to create new legal regulations in the field of RES and has put the knowledge and experience of its members at disposal to the Ministry of Mining and Energy as help in the process of creating a new legal framework.
