After purchasing land in the Industrial Zone Southeast, the Zrenjanin-based company Mera, which designs, procures, assembles and maintains electrical and other equipment, started building a production hall and an administrative building on 6,850 m2 last year.

The investment is worth around EUR 500,000, and this is just one of the several companies which are currently building production halls in this industrial zone.

Mayor Cedomir Janjic said that the local self-government was doing everything in its power to enable investors to get permits for the construction of facilities as soon as possible and added that it meant more new jobs and a better standard for the citizens.

The owner and the director of Mera, Djorjde Vlatkovic, reminded that the company had been founded in 1990, with only one employee. In the meantime, the number of workers grew to close to 80. The company is now a recognized partner of investors in the fields of oil, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and food industries in Serbia and the region, as well as of the world's largest producers of measuring-regulation, electrical and mechanical-technological equipment and automated control systems.

– The further trends in the market will depend on the relations we establish with large world systems. We plan to finalize the investment in the industrial zone by the end of the year, which will facilitate things for us – Vlatkovic said.

He added that the company's top management had been making constant efforts to affirm the company and make it interesting locally, but also in the neighboring area.

In addition to Mera, facilities are being built by the Chinese Linlong Tire, German GPK, Pionirgas from Novi Sad and another three investors from Zrenjanin – MV Invest, Trenc and Agrounija.
