Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic announced today that the first tendering procedure for the Nis Plocnik highway, that is, the Nis-Merdare-Pristina highway, would open in the autumn of 2020.

After visiting the drinking water factory in Aleksinac, she told the press that it was realistic to expect for the works on the Nis-Plocnik section, 33 kilometers long, to start no later than in the spring of 2021.

– We have already made an agreement with the EU on a EUR 40 million grant, an agreement with the European Investment Bank on EUR 100 million and will soon sign an agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on EUR 100 million – the minister said.

She specified that the tendering for the execution and supervision of the works on the 33-km Nis-Plocnik section would open in the autumn.

The section, she emphasized, is just as important for the Aleksinac area as more than 200 kilometers of local roads which are to be rehabilitated in that part of Serbia.

As she said, the completed Corridor 10, more precisely, its eastern and southern branches, is also important for that part of Serbia.
