After the public procurement procedure for the construction of the Port of Smederevo was stopped in April, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia announced a new tender. The previous notice was published on May 29, and, according to that document, the notification about the contract will be published in July.

Let us remind that, in late 2019, the ministry opened a public procurement procedure for the reconstruction and construction of a terminal for bulk and general cargo at the Port of Smederevo, and the bid submission deadline was February 27, 2020.

However, this procedure was terminated on April 15, 2020. According to the explanation, the reason for the termination is that the technically acceptable bid exceeded the financial funds available. As the tendering documentation said, the works were supposed to be financed 50% from the credit of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and 50% from the state budget.

The works entail the overhaul of the existing port area and port of close to 3.8 ha and the construction of a new part of the port of 21 ha, as an extension of the existing port area.

The works include the construction of access routes and the accompanying infrastructure.
