Modernization of City Stadium in Sombor Planned – New Bleachers, Basketball, Handball and Beach Volleyball Courts and Hotel for Athletes to be Built
The documentation on which the DRP of the business-sports zone around the city stadium is based has been prepared by the PUE Prostor from Sombor, with the City as the investor.
As said in the plan, the aim of the preparation is to improve the existing features of the stadium facility and the zone around it.
Within the stadium facility itself, the plan includes the development and building of new bleachers, as well as the reconstruction of the existing ones and the construction of new courts. The plan is to build courts for futsal and handball, basketball and volleyball and beach volleyball, to expand the racing track, to expand the eastern stands and build western stands, as well as bleachers alongside the auxiliary court.
Also, the plan enables the construction of a sports tourism facility – a hotel for the accommodation of athletes, along with a parking lot, footpaths and green areas within a park.
The plan also includes the expansion of the business zone around the stadium with new hospitality and commercial features, and new streets are to be built as well, along with a parking lot for passenger cars and buses, a pedestrian-cycling lane, public lighting, rainwater sewer, street furniture and greenery.
Southeast of the stadium, the construction of a hippodrome and the development of a park-forest are planned, and those areas, according to the plan, should be connected by a pedestrian-cycling bridge.
The detailed regulation plan is up for public review until June 22, 2020.
