Will there be special baskets for the disposal of masks and gloves in the future and can post-covid material be recycled? So far, the material has been ending up at landfills, without the possibility of proper recycling, but now a laboratory where such waste will be incinerated is opening in Zrenjanin.

Only two towns in Serbia, Cacak and Milanovac, have so far enabled citizens to dispose of infectious post-covid waste at a single place.

Sinisa Mitrovic of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia said that the crisis was a good opportunity for us to change our habits completely, to change the flows of waste and admit to ourselves that we have no infrastructure for primary selection.

– If we consider climate and health crises in the future, we need to raise the investments, especially when it comes to the incineration of hazardous waste – he said.
