Serbia is ready to open and relaunch air traffic on May 18, the deputy prime minister and minister of construction, transport and infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlovic, said this morning on RTS and added that it would depend on other countries of the European Union and their resumption of air transport.

– Airports were not closed here. Instead, regular air lines were canceled everywhere. The Belgrade Airport has been open throughout the state of emergency for the purpose of getting humanitarian help and bringing back our citizens from other states. Our proposition is for passenger air traffic to be reinstated on May 18 and for flights from the Nikola Tesla Airport and the airports in Nis and Kraljevo to start then. However, if Europe doesn't open until then, Serbia won't either – Mihajlovic says.

She said that everything that Serbia did in international transport needed to be harmonized with other states:

– In the European Union, there's still not a definite agreement about the opening of the borders. When Europe opens, so will we. So, we are ready, but we have to coordinate our activities with the world.
