The Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlovic, stated for RTS that the reconstruction of the highway between Kuzmin and Batrovci, that is, to the border with Croatia, had been completed during the epidemic.

– All large infrastructure projects in Serbia are being realized during the coronavirus epidemic too and around 520 kilometers of roads and railways are being built in Serbia now, with 2,600 workers active, who I am very proud of. The value of those projects is EUR 2.6 billion. Life can't stop, we have to think about the day after too – Mihajlovic said.

She said that the works were being done on several new highways and rail structures, the ministry announced on its website.

– The Morava Corridor, the highways between Sremska Raca and Kuzmin and between Ruma, Sabac and Loznica, as well as the high-speed railway between Belgrade and Budapest, are all being built. Furthermore, around 14 thousand workers are employed on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of regional and local roads. Some sections are finished, such as the highway between Batrovci and Kuzmin – she said.

Mihajlovic added that there were difficulties with realizing the projects.

– The biggest problem is the procurement of equipment and secondary materials from other countries. The dynamics of this will be changed, but we don't expect major delays. I want to thank all the construction workers and companies who adapt to the changes, for example the 1,500 workers building the high-speed railway between Belgrade and Stara Pazova – she stated.

The deputy prime minister also pointed out that employee safety and complying with all the measures were paramount.
