Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali has invited companies to apply for exemptions defined within the Program of Economic Measures for Countering the COVID-19 Epidemic Consequences on the Economy, worth EUR 5.1 billion. The legal framework for the execution of the program was adopted on Friday, at a session of the Government of Serbia, and companies started applying through the Tax Administration portal over the weekend.

– Although we didn't think that companies would start applying over the weekend, they did so, and in under 24 hours we had 15,000 companies open a special-purpose account, thereby applying for the measures. At just two clicks, they can postpone their tax obligations and enable the payment of the monetary amount equaling the minimum wage for their employees – Mali said.

According to the minister, the state intends for everything to be simplified and for the electronic services of the Tax Administration to be used.
