Serbia will not take financial help from the IMF, as it has large FX reserves and 31 tons of gold, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated today.

The president said that, at a meeting with Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, Finance Minister Sinisa Mali and NBS Governor Jorgovanka Tavakovic, held the previous evening as part of the activities of the crisis group for the economy, they had deliberated “whether to ask for financial help from the IMF, in addition to the prepared measures”. He added that it had been estimated that the help is not needed.

As he points out, Serbia will quickly recover after the pandemic ends, primarily thanks to the stable and solid finances.

– We have stable finances and will recover quickly. The IMF offers urgent help to countries which have problems when it comes to reserves. We will not take help from the IMF, as we have large FX reserves and 31 tons of gold – Vucic said on TV Prva through a video-link from the Presidency of Serbia.
